Stage Manager
Rates of Pay: £3500 total @ £700 per week for 5 weeks, raising to £4200 for 6 weeks once additional dates are confirmed + per diems for touring days (ITC Rates)
Project Dates: 5th May - 5th September 2025
Location: Touring across North of England (South/West Yorkshire base required)
Description
We are looking for a Stage Manager to support our production of BIG STRONG MAN for a studio-scale tour from May- September 2025, covering rehearsals and performances across multiple venues.
BIG STRONG MAN aims to change the narrative on mental health, suicide and what it means to be a man in northern working class communities through comedy, cabaret, devised performance and immersive theatre.
Pay
Total fee is currently £3500, with possibility of further dates resulting in increased fee. This is based on £700 per week x 5 weeks:
9 days rehearsals
13 days on tour
3 days equivalent of driving
Working hours include time spent travelling to rehearsal if you don't live in South Yorkshire, where rehearsals are taking place. For touring days, this has been added in addition to accommodate for van driving, which is key to the role.
In addition, the company will cover all accommodation and per diems at £34.13 per day on touring days. Travel/mileage for rehearsals can also be reimbursed.

Wednesday 25th - Rotherham Civic
Friday 27th - Old Electric, Blackpool
July 2025
Saturday 12th - Slung Low, Leeds
August 2025
Friday 8th & Saturday 9th - Den Festival in Leigh, West Manchester
Additional Dates (Unconfirmed):
Between 18th August and 5th September 2025
1 additional rehearsal day
4 additional performances in Bolsover
Criteria:
Essential Requirements:
Good organisational skills and team player
Excellent time keeping
Previous stage management experience on studio-scale shows
Knowledge of QLab
Responsible, safe, and experienced driver with a full, clean UK driving licence
Must be at least 25 years old due van hire insurance requirements
Must be available for all tour dates
Desirable Attributes:
Studio-scale touring experience
Medium-sized van driving experience
Interest in men's mental health, suicide, mental illness
Previous experience on interactive or immersive theatre shows
Based in Yorkshire or a commutable distance from Doncaster/Sheffield
First Aid trained
Our Stage Manager will be expected to:
Lead get-ins and get-outs
Drive tour van
Operate QLab, sound equipment and technical aspects
Run the book
Manage props, set, and costumes
Support risk assessments and tech specs
Attend all rehearsals
Complete other tasks as requested by company directors
Expenses:
Accommodation covered
£34.13 per day per diems on touring dates
Travel/mileage expenses reimbursed
Access
