Tales at Twilight is an ongoing storytelling event and collaborative project for artists to explore the nature of fear and the oral tradition of passing down ghost stories around the camp fire.
Each event is split into two parts: performances and sharing. For the performances, each artist or company is given a personal verbatim story that answers the question:
“Was there a time in your life where you were absolutely terrified but could not explain why?”
They then have free reign to use that story as inspiration to create a whole new piece of art. This could be a poem, music, animation, drama, dance, film, puppetry or anything!
At the end of the night we open up to the sharing stage, where anyone in attendance can share their own personal account which answers the same question. With that persons permission we then transpose this story and give it to another artist for the next event!
Conceived by Peter Pearson in 2015, he has spent years collecting accounts of the wacky, wonderful and terrifying. Unlike your Frankenstein’s Monster or Dracula, Peter found these stories carried all the quirks and uneasiness of a real persons experience with the paranormal. During the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, Peter wanted to share these stories with artists and thus Tales at Twilight was born.
The result is an intimate and tantalisingly fun night where we touch upon some ancient collective consciousness and safely step onto that point at the edge of reality… Or have a good giggle and get too scared to go to bed.

2025!Following the success of the first Live Tales at Twilight at CAST in Doncaster in 2024. We will be remounting, finding new artists and this time we will be on at Halloween!
